Submission Categories

Write an original piece -- in either English or Spanish -- that is focused on a true, fact-based untold tale celebrating and/or illuminating the importance of human rights and/or the Sustainable Development Goals with a:


  • Short narrative (not to exceed 1,000 words), or a focused piece that tells a story  based on either (or both) personal experience and/or primary research;
  • Poem (not to exceed 500 words), based on either personal experience or primary research to tell your story, and/or
  • Short story (not to exceed 1,000 words), which is a creative text that is based on real events and primary research, and written with either non-fiction or fictionalized characters.


Both anonymous stories and authored stories will be accepted.


Only submissions in English or Spanish will be accepted from youth under the age of 18.


You may submit up to one (1) piece per category.


All submissions must be received by May 1st, 2023.
